School Happenings

McKenna is really enjoying 1st grade this year. She seems so much more confident than last year and keeps saying how easy this year is for her.  She told us she was going to talk to one of the Kindergarten teachers about letting her come in one day to read to their class and she did! She told us how one of the girls in the class was waving to her as she came in then when she was done the girl went up to her and told her what a great reader she is. McKenna said she never met this girl before.  She is up and ready to go every morning, actually has time to eat breakfast! This is a HUGE change from last year!  She is preforming very well on her assignments and knows her spelling words.
Her piano lessons is going great! She really enjoys playing and is pickup up on it very quickly.

Bryson is enjoying the year as well, he especially likes his teachers.  He is making new friends AND he performed very well on a huge science test he took last week! He was very excited about this.  It's been a really tough year for him though, especially in math.  He has a lot more homework this year and doesn't necessarily enjoy the extra time it takes to get it done. But he is trying his best and doing well. Bryson has also joined chess club, which he LOVES! He had his first meeting with it last week said he won his first game. This is a great motivator for Bryson and helps to get his mind off school related things, which I believe it's what he really needs right now.

Gavin and I went and had an enjoyable lunch time with them : )

Sweet SEVEN

McKenna celebrated her birthday with the American girl doll theme of this year's one and only MCKENNA!  They watched the McKenna movie and had LOTS of movie treats. McKenna and her friends really enjoyed themselves, and thank goodness for my dear friend, JW, who stuck through it with me. Nine girls plus candy = craziness!

She opted for a Rapunzel cake this year. Thanks to my mother and sister-in-law for their help on decorating it!
Let the party begin...

Cake!! Just in case these girls didn't get enough sugar already : )

Gift opening time!

Game time: to calm these hyper girls while they waited for their parent's to pick them up!

Loaded! This was one happy birthday party

McKenna is 7!

Us birthday girls went out on the Saturday before our birthday to do our annual pedicures! We always look forward to this :)
This year McKenna went for the LSU colors (purple and yellow); her Kindergarten teacher converted her into a fan last year.

That night we went out to dinner as a family at The Melting Pot.
So much fun and the kids loved it!

All smiles on this face as she had been counting down the days! We made her a huge sign on our chalk board wall. Even Gavin contributed with his marks a the bottom.

She chose her favorite cereal of 'Fruity Sparkles' and got to use the 'special' plate and bowl all day!

 Present time!
Bryson was so sweet to give her $2 of his own money; and she received the McKenna movie!

She also received a full length keyboard, piano books and lessons. She is truly a natural at it and is enjoying it very much.

We had pies that daddy and Grandma made for us as her b-day cake would be shared at her friend party. Banana cream and apple = delightful and delicious!

She had a great birthday thanks to all of you!

She also received this doll from Grandma G!
