Cookies and Friends
The kids got to have their friends over for a sleep over this past weekend. We took our friends kids so that they could enjoy an evening to themselves. Here they all are, lined up watching a movie on the floor. They were so great, except when it was time to go to bed. We found the girls quietly playing in Kenna's room with the light on. When I opened the door, Kenna hurried as fast as she could to hide under her bed! And then the boys couldn't seem to keep quiet. They were up talking and laughing and having a great time. There certainly wasn't much sleep going on and the results of this were evident the next day!
Last week, Bryson had a friend over, Calvin, and we decided to make some Halloween sugar cookies. Each child put on an apron, had their own rolling pin and went straight to work. They had a great time making a mess with the flour and dough. They also enjoyed cutting out their own shapes.
Bryson wouldn't stop eating his dough!
Sleepy Head
McKenna woke up early Monday morning, screaming because of a nightmare she was having. She said she was dreaming about the monsters she saw in the Halloween store and they were trying to get her. I stayed in bed with her, to hold her and calm her down. She didn't go back to sleep because Bryson's alarm to get up went off. Anyway, we finished with FHE early and sent the kids to go get ready for bed and we could have some extra time to read stories or play. Bryson was done in a flash, but McKenna took her time. She usually takes her time and I just figured she was making the choice to spend her extra time trying to get ready for bed. Well, bed time rolls around and still no McKenna. I went to her room, knocked on the door and no answer. I peeked in to find her laying on the floor, right in front of her closet, sound asleep! Well, I'm glad she decided to go to bed early to make up for the little sleep she received the night before!

Rain, Rain, go away
As some of you know, Georgia got hit with a few days of non-stop rain storms a few weeks ago. Most of Atlanta and a few other counties closed their roads. School was even cancelled for a day due to the floods and closed roads. We were very blessed to have only received just under two feet of water in our back yard. Our house didn't flood and our street was open. There were only a few damaged basements in our area. Here is a picture of part of our back yard. As you can see it was a murky swimming pool. Kenna asked me if we are going to see alligators come out of the water!
Fall Family Fun Night
Change
Both of the kids really like that they get to have their own room. Bryson's is a larger room with a walk-in closet and an extra crawl space that leads to our attic. He likes to call it his "hide out". He is very proud of this space of his own and shows it to everyone that comes over! McKenna has also taken some pride with her room. So much that she has even set specific rules for everyone to abide to, no exceptions! She likes to keep her door closed to assure that everyone has to knock before entering and they must ask with a "please" before she will say "yes". She has a long closet with tall, mirror doors. This is her favorite.... she likes to make-believe and act out in front of the mirrors. They have become quite a distraction for her and it takes her an extremely long time to get dressed these days!
Long Wait
Thank you for all of your patience in waiting for us to get settled into our new house and to get internet. We finally have it, and now I can catch you all up on this past months events!
